Location, location, location still important for property investment
64% of Scots are most focussed on location when buying a home according to the annual Home buyers Research report from Clydesdale and Yorkshire Banks. An average of 59% of buyers in the UK consider location a key factor but it’s more important to Scots than anyone else. Investors should take note, location is STILL very important.
These findings tell us that Scots value the location of their home highly and for investors this means that local market knowledge remains very important.
Buying in a location that offers your tenants access to the amenities important to them will help to minimise void periods, is more likely to attract long term tenants and gives the opportunity for increased yields. What makes a location important can vary: from transport links and places and of study to local shops and parking it all depends on the potential tenant.
In order to invest in residential property in the right area to offer tenants their ideal location you have to know where popular areas are and there are a few ways to find out. You could spend a few weeks in the local pub soaking up the atmosphere, or you can ask our experts.
At Cairn we know the property market well and pride ourselves on not only knowing the best deals and off market properties but the local area too.
