Stirling and Perth – Scotland’s Next Property Hotspots?

It’s the question that every property investor and home buyer wants to know – where are the best places to buy in Scotland? Cities like Glasgow, Edinburgh and Dundee are still in high demand, but two other cities have started to become increasingly popular – Stirling and Perth.

Here’s what you need to know about these property hotspots.

Stirling – Scotland’s ‘Most Affordable’ City

The Bank of Scotland recently announced that Stirling was the country’s most affordable city to invest in; with the average cost of a house just four times the area’s average yearly wage. It’s also a city with a lot going for it – close proximity to spectacular scenery such as Loch Lomand and Trossachs National Park, and plenty of shops, restaurants and cultural attractions. It’s also within easy reach of both Glasgow and Edinburgh (an hour by train to both cities).

Perth – Rocketing Market

RoS (Registers of Scotland) figures show that sales have soared in Perth – with £30 million worth of property changing hands in the city in January this year. This is up £8 million from last year. Property values have increased by an average of 17% in one year alone – and investors are being advised to move quickly before prices increase further. Perth also has a range of great amenities, and is close to many major Scottish cities. It’s just 20 minutes by train to Dundee, and an hour and a half to Edinburgh and Glasgow respectively.
